New things and chin dimples? haha

So I've been really insecure about my imperfections lately- I do not know why. Sometimes I just don't feel beautiful and it's a habit I should get over. Nobody is perfect. As of late I have been obsessing over getting a chin implant as soon as I have $4000 loose cash (hahah yeah right). Well, I've been told by my closest family and friends that my chin dimple is just a part of me and I should just keep it. I keep thinking that I won't be as gorgeous as others because of this dimple. That it brings this sort of manly appeal. But I did some research, and found out a lot of beautiful people have chin dimples. Here are some of whom I found:

And here I am, sporting my chin dimple proudly haha:
Moral of this blog: love yourself, find beauty within, discard any thoughts of hate, do not compare yourself with others, and most importantly be around people who make you feel good about yourself. My belief is that we are social people who rely on the judgement and approval of others. Even if it's done subconsciously, we all want to be loved and liked and to be thought of as pretty. So be with people who genuinely think well of you and in return you will feel well also.

Apple butter extravaganza

Yesterday sparked motivation to begin working on a kitchen project-homemade apple butter. I searched and found many different and similar recipes; some that cooked in a pot for 2 hours, others in a crock pot for 12 hours, and some just looked like applesauce, until I found a wonderful recipe I could tweak to make my own :)

This is what I used:
1 3lb bag of McIntosh apples
1 3lb bag of Granny Smith apples
3 1/2  C white sugar
1/2 C brown sugar
1 TBS ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp pumpkin spices
dash of nutmeg

The recipe I based mine off of used only 4 C white sugar, no brown sugar, didn't include pumpkin spice, and instead used 1/4 tsp salt. It also didn't tell me which apples to use, but My momma always said to make the best apple sauce use McIntosh, and I read elsewhere that mixing those with Granny Smith gives a wonderful sweet/ tangy taste. They were right!! It's gorgeous!! 15 hours later! haha

Wax Sealing & other wonderful things

I have always wanted to do wax sealing. It's just so unique, and gives it an "old time" feel. I was nervous to get it wrong, but it was much easier than expected. I love the personal appeal. :) Here's an example of my wax sealed envelopes-

Also, my mom visited this weekend which made me happy, because she's been sick and I've been worried about her. I was glad to see her doing much better.

We went to an antique shop and found a few vintage dresses. We also got a vintage silver dress hook from 1903. I'm in love with it., not the price of it however. Thank you Momma! :) Here's our findings:

Today I'm watching and reminiscing on all of my favorite wedding moments on TV... The last one is a classic- if you can't already tell, I love the show Friends :)

First Post

I am excited to begin this new sweet little blog. I tried one before with Live Journal, but it did not suit me very well.

I'll start by introducing myself. I'm Miranda, and I love all things vintage. I have 2 lovely kitties: Lilith and Chickabee. My favorite month is October. I love everything about it. The smell of burning wood crackling at a bonfire, sticky, golden caramel apples, orange, brown, green, red and yellow leaves all around, carving pumpkins, bringing out sweaters and scarves, candy galore, trick-or-treaters, and the best part: baking pies ( I like to make them fresh and freeze them for Thanksgiving in November- another fabulous month!).

I'm currently in my first semester in nursing school. I was so happy to get into the program, but lately I've been having a rough time and am not so happy in the program. It's not that I'm not thankful, it's just that it is a really difficult program. My grades have slipped, and one class in particular I am more than likely going to have to re-take. There's really no other reason than learning to change my studying habits. I've been studying to memorize material all of my life, and that's just not how nursing school works. If any of you are nursing students you understand me completely.

Well, with that, I should get going. The picture above is me at 4 years old living in Georgia in Autumn. I had fun reminiscing about the best month ever with you. Be back soon!! xoxo
